Hey, I have my car at the shop right now. I took it in because of a popping and creeking sound when you turn the steering wheel. The tech says that its a bad rack and pinion (worn tie rods) and the whole thing needs to be replaced. This is on a 2002 Z28 with 40,000 miles. I do have a bunch of speed bumps in my apt complex, but should this be happening? Has this happened to anyone else?

 

Well which is it? Bad rack or bad tie rods? Or is it both? You can just replace the tie rods.
