Default What fitting to cap rear brake line?

I am removing my stock 10-bolt in preparation for installation of a Moser 12-bolt. I want to disconnect and cap the rear brake line at the point where the hard line connects to the flex line to the axle housing. There is a male flare fitting at this point and I want to temporarily cap it with the appropriate female fitting. I don’t know how to specify the type and size fitting needed.

Thanks, Gary

I just put a soft plastic cap over it when I did that. You will need to bleed the brake system when you are done anyway. Some auto parts stores sell a variety pack of these caps and there is usually one that will fit everything including the fuel lines.

Thanks Cal, I’ll look for the plastic caps. I knew I would need to bleed the brakes but I want to avoid siphoning my system dry like I did the last time I worked on my gears.

Right. They are made out of that plastic that looks like it was formed by something being dipped in the stuff. Usually each size is a different color.

I found several sizes of neoprene caps at Kragen. The ones that work best are 3/16 inch ID and about one inch long. If you slide back the male fitting, they slip over the flare and seal nicely. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Yeah that's true, the black neoprene ones work great as well.
