Default Free Brake Calculations at PBC

As many of you know getting ahold of the right brake upgrade can sometimes be time consuming or confusing and at worst end up leaving a guy without any type of an upgrade at all. In the link below I have posted an image of our brake calculator that demonstrates the major factors that revolve around big brake upgrades.

1. Caliper bore dimensions
2. Master cylinder bore dimension
3. Rotor diameter
(note: Of course there are many other factors that are looked at by engineers, but this simple "quick check" as we call it will let you know if you are headed in the right direction)

So.... if any of you are second guessing what would actually be considered an upgrade (whether it's a retrofit/donor car or a would-be Big Brake Upgrade), send those inquiries to me via PM and I will post your calculations back via e-mail or on the LS1 boards to show the math backing your proposed upgrade.

Please bare in mind that this calculator is a "quick check" but hits on the most important factors when attempting to achieve an overall upgrade in brake torque. It is also used in comparison for a 1 time stop with 2 identical vehicles.....each running different setup's in front brakes. Sometimes when the overall % is low one must remember that stop after stop most BBK's or larger systems will outperform the OE setups because of other factors like (added rotor mass=less heat, SS Flex lines=Less overall system flex, High Temp fluid=less likely to experience fade, Perfomance compounds in pads=Outperforming OE pads in more ways than one, etc.

Here is an example (see attachment) that shows a comparison between an OE system on a 94 - 97 Camaro and a proposed upgrade using a 13inch rotor and Wilwood Superlite calipers.
