Default What will work better with my factory springs--SLP Bilsteins or regular Bilsteins?

According to http://www.angelfire.com/my/fastcar/suspension.html:

Bilstein HD Front 159 bump; 279 rebound
SLP/Bilstein Front 130 bump; 397 rebound

OEM GM V8 springs front: 292 lbs/inch
SLP Level 1 Progressive front: 223-448 lbs/inch
SLP Level 2 Progressive front: 300-450 lbs/inch
Eibach V8 Prokit 98-02 front: 400 lbs/inch

The SLP Bilsteins are usually sold with either the SLP Level 1 Progressive or Level 2 Progressive springs (can't remember). Will they work better than the regular Bilsteins in properly dampening the factory Z28 springs.

Which shock would give me better weight distribution for drag racing with the Z28 springs?

Can the SLP Bilsteins adequately work with the 400lbs/inch Eibach Prokits since they can handle both the level one 223-448 lbs/inch and level two 300-450 lbs/inch SLP springs? Thanks in advance for the info.

I would get the regular Bilstein HD's for the stock springs.

you want the regular hds they are better suited ofr stock springs, Sam strano and other experts in suspension reffer them as "what should have came with the car off the factory", so if you re not even concern with lowering and want the best for your money ( 330$_) go with them

For drag racing stay with the stock shocks. Lower springs and better shocks will slow or stop the weigt transfer. QA1 work for drags. Bilsteins are not the best for lowering springs. Stay with stock springs and Bilsteins for better handling.

I think you're right and I would probably go with the QA1's if my car was going to be a drag-only car, but since my car is mostly street driven, I want it to ride well on the street as well. I also don't want to lower my car and I'm on a budget so I'm leaning towards the Bilstein HD's.

I think that's a wise choice. After all, SLP shocks aren't meant for anything else other than SLP's own Eibach springs. The loss of compression and upping of the rebound in conjunction with no change in the rear is asking for a bit of packing of the front springs as well as a hobby-horse motion when the front is overdamped and the rear is not.

Yours is the case that HD's are meant for.

I just put the bilstiens in with my stock springs and they feel very nice. The car is more planted in bumps and the ride may be better than stock.
