Default rotor retaining clip

Is there supposed to be a clip or something that holds the rotor on before you put the wheel on or is it just the wheel holding the rotor on?

There is a small clip from the factory. It's not mandatory, but does make assembly
easier.

ive done my brakes quite a few times, and I normally put the caliper over the rotor, and let that hold it on.

Ok thanks! I just wasn't sure if a clip would not allow the wheel to be flush on the rotor.
