Default Slide-A-Link traction bars

I ordered the Slide-a-link setup and brought the springs and new solid bushings to my machinist to have them pressed in/out.
He got me to really wondering though. Now I'm not sure if I want to install them in my 69 Camaro??????
His point is that he has replaced a lot of solid bushings and guys usually come back and ask to have the rubber ones re-installed because the ride is so damn harsh!
Have any of you guys used the solid bushings and is the ride THAT bad? I was hoping the trade off for handling would be worth it.
I don't drag race the car but I am trying to make it better handling.
Hope someone knows???
