steering linkage different in fbodys?

steering linkage different in fbodys? I recently bought a new steering column from a trans am. Now when I go to put on the steering linkage it is too short! Is it shorter or what? If i bought a firebird steering linkage would it solve the problem or are they the same length? Input is needed!
