Default Rotor & Pad Question

I was going to get some Hawk HPS pads and I have one of those really cheap valuecraft rotors, it was given to me with the car. Should I ditch it and get some duralast or other brand instead?

I went with WS6 Store Front Cross Drilled and Slotted rotors and brembo blanks in the back along with PBR pads on the front, and Hawk in the rear. I have not heard a squeal at all. not like the Autozone/Oreily rotors i once used. And there is hardly any brake dust.

I'd go with something else. I opted for powerslot rotors. Not too expensive and they dont warp like the stock pile of crap ones do.

i just installed a full set of powerslot rotors about 600 miles ago. they are still squeaking like crazy. i tried putting some disc brake quiet on the pads but it did nothing at all. do anyone elses powerslot rotors squeak? im thinking it may be my pads cuz a buddy of mine put the same pads on his truck and his brakes squeak too. Im using Bendix carbon-metallic pads.

Your rotors won't really cause the squeaking. It's usually the pad material (of course now I'll get all those "I had to reseat my rotors to stop squeaking" responses, as if I needed to be proven wrong).

Your power slots will cause additional dusting and a "whrrr" sound when stopping however.

brembo blanks would be a good choice also.

Autozone blanks with Hawk HPS pads and zero squeeks with 25k+ mileage on the combo.

Just finally installed the front brakes and they are great so far. No more vibrations. Did a couple hard stops and I can tell a difference. Good setup to me

Yep, I noticed that this weekend when I put new brakes on my car. Hawk HPS with slotted and drilled rotors create some dust...especially when your dog pees on the rims and the dust collects at the bottem of the rim.

Stopping is night and day difference than my old brakes.

Go easy before the first few 100 miles, otherwise an improper bed-in will result in excessive runout which will lead to the nasty vibrations on braking to come right back.

Well normally I'm against kicking dogs, but I think in that case I would make an exception lol
