abs inop and low trac light help!!!
I have a problem with my girlfriends 99 v6 camaro. The abs inop light stays on but the brakes work fine until you will be driving down the road and the low trac light, lights up and then when you hit the brakes it pulls to the front right. My first thought was it was just a abs sensor so I went to pick on up at the local auto store and discovered that I had to purchase the whole hub assembly for about 200 bucks, so I just want to be sure that this is what it is. I understand that their is also a control module for these abs systems. What is wrong with this pos?? thanks in advance.

i dont think that is it, I wouldnt think the abs inop light would stay on most of the time if it was just a sticking caliper. The car is fine with the abs inop on its just when the low trac lights up you know to watch out the time you hit the brakes because they are going to be jacked up.

ok how do you figure it dont make sense? you said it yourself that the car is pulling to the right when you hit the brakes. Now either 1.you have a blockage in the left side line 2.theres a leak in that line 3.your abs module is bad or 4. you have a bad caliper. If it was just an electrical problem then the car would still brake straight.

no if the passenger side abs wheel sensor was bad it would tell the computer that the car was loosing traction on that side and grip that side. When the brakes screw up the one brake is going into abs mode.

To me, EDS01SS is making perfect sense.
If the car is pulling to one side, then the calipers on that side are sticking or the calipers on the other side arent working.
* Check all the calipers/pads rotors.
* Inspect the caliper pistons and sliding pins for wear or immobility. (The caliper sliding pins should slide easily, clean/re-grease as needed)
* Inspect the rubber boots on the caliper pistons and sliding pins.
* Inspect and clean the ABS sensors.
* Replace parts as needed (replace pads/rotors in axle pairs).
* Inspect all brake lines (especially the rubber ones)
* Bleed/flush the braking system (use good fresh fluid)
* After everthings has been inspected/cleaned/greased/replaced/repaired, go for a drive to see if anything has improved.
Most importatntly BE CAREFUL and get it fixed soon. No sense driving a death trap.

Well I well check all of this out and see. I just dont see why the abs light would come on, that indicates that something is wrong with the electrical system in the abs system.
One more thing its odd that you can drive the car when the abs inop is on and the brakes are fine until the low trac light comes on and then the next time you hit the brakes it is screwy.
When the low trac light comes on you can turn the car off then back on and the light is off and brakes are fine, I dont see how a sticking caliper could cause that???

It could be confusing the electronic propotioning or it could be a bad sensor.
Just take a systematic approach to the braking system when hunting down a problem and start out with the cheaper items first.

For your pockets sake I hope its just a bad caliper or something like that and not the ABS module.Your best bet at this point is to take it somewhere and have the ABS codes pulled and start there. You will have to take it to the dealership since I dont think autozone's scanner will read a ABS code.

Good point.
I forgot about reading the codes.
Thats a good place to start.
The dealership will charge too much for reading the codes, so hopefully AutoZone can do it.

is there anyways to just pull a fuse or something if it is something with the abs system such as bad sensor or module? I thought I read you could pull a fuse or two buy i dont know which ones.
