Default New brake pads

I'm getting new brake pads and the ones I have now are Hawk. I noticed with these brake pads I get a lot of break dust on my rims. When I had the stock break pads they never created this much dust. Any recommendations on what pads to get? Everytime you change your break pads do you have to grind the rotors down?

High performance pads will dust a lot. Raybestos Quiet Stops are pretty good and they hardly dust at all. They are not high performance pads, but work great.

It is very rare to not have to turn the rotors. They almost always have to be turned. If they are totally smooth and not dug out very deep, you can get by maybe once without resurfacing.

I wouldn't turn the stock rotors....you can get a new set of Brembo OEM replacement rotors for a reasonable price from several of our sponsors. You can also talk to them about brake pads...but they will all recommend something different.

Some people say that Hawk pads are quiet and don't dust...others say they do.

If you want stock like dust and low noise...then by stock pads. They are actually pretty good pads...it's the rotors that suck.

I'd recommend you talk to Sam at www.stranoparts.com ... he knows his stuff about everything suspension related. He can set you up with everything you need for a brake setup that meets your needs.

I'm just wondering who told you Hawk pads wouldn't dust much?

I'm gonna be trying Wagner Thermoquiets soon...
