Does anyone out there run Wilwood on thier late model F Body? I'm thinking about upgrading to them.

Then I suggest you invest in some custom wheels first...

I am sure you would be happy. My company uses a template to insure fitment, which gives you added insurance that the kit will fit. Check out what trackbird said about his kit

Good luck, and feel free to contact me if you need some advice.

BTW Sabbath ROCKS!!!!!!!

I have a Precision brakes 6 piston Wilwood kit. It fits under my 10 spokes just fine and works great. My personal experience with it has been excellent and the guys at Precision can get you fixed up with anything you need (or nearly so). They build some custom kits that are using Wilwood calipers, but are not "the" Wilwood kit. That allows them some flexiblilty to make room for wheels, etc. I like mine and suggest giving them a call when you are ready.

You know Trackbird,

It is very interesting that your wheels fit considering you need an additional 1.43 inches of caliper clearance for the wilwood 6 pistons. I'd like to see just how you have it set up. You can't move the rotor much because of the lower control arm clearance, so I am very curious on just how you made it work...Not that I have doubt or anything...

My kit uses a C4HD rotor and not the Wilwood rotors. So far, they've held up great and rotors are far less expensive than the Wilwood replacements (Wilwood rings are about $180 each, C4HD rotors are about $50). As for how they fit, you'll have to ask Victor from Precision Brakes, they built the kit. But it does fit with no issues at all, it clears the wheels (by enough to have a proper safety margin) and I have no issues with the control arm either. That's why I suggested that the original poster contact Precision. It's because I know they fit.

Hi
Be careful with the torquing of the nuts holding the caliper down - it is a 3/8-24. I followed their instructions and stripped the nut/stud - it calls out 47 ft -lbs. It appears the stud is not a grade 8 and could not handle the torque. Use 30 to 35 FT-LBS only.

Man, anything holding your brake system together should be metric 10.xx or ARP hardware. I suppose SAE bolts might be used on some kits, but if that is the case, they should also be at least grade 8 if not ARP/mil spec/NAS grade.

The Wilwood brakes work great - hit the brakes is like hitting a wall. The car just come to very fast stop.
