Default Bad torque arm causing "clunk"?

I have a weird clunk sound. When I'm slowing down for a stop, and the tranny downshifts from 2nd to 1st, a hear a clunk sound. I know it isn't the trans mount since it's polyurethane and I just had it checked out today, everything was tight. Could a bad torque arm bushings, loose bolt, cracked torque arm be causing this clunk?

not doubting you checked, but I had this happen when I snapped the upper bolt holding the stock torque arm to the T-56. . .
torque arm kept hitting the tunnel and would bounce back into place in the cheap rubber mount. . .

2 things I had come loose-bolts holding the t/a to the diff. was causing that kind of sound when coasting over bumps, the other was the nut holding the tranny mount to the cross member.

check out your LCA's. I had a clunk on acceleration from blown bushings once

I don't think it's my LCA's. I had Spohn peices installed last year with poly bushings.

Yeah, I got a used BMR torque arm relocation bracket from someone off the site. I didn't want to drop the transmission just to re-tap the hole.

i had the same clunk I believe. I think someone suggested it was a throw out bearing-whatever the hell that is.

If it's the same clunk that me and Duff had, it's real easy to tell; just get under the car and look at the bracket where the torque arm mounts to the transmission tail housing. If it's broken, there's the reason for your clunk.

if you can push the T/A up or pull it down (most likely pull down) then it's busted. . .

(just hit my 200th post. . .finally Launching. . . )

Not so much the tranny mount as it is the bracket where the TA mounts to the transmission.

It would have to be a DAMNED STRONG engine to cause the tranny to bounce
Just guessing 800+ FtLbs. . .

I have had this problem with my spohn TA, all I do is get up underneath, and tighten the hell out of the bottom bolt, thats what spohn said to do and it solved the problem.

Thanks guys. I'll have the torque arm looked at when I get my new tires installed.
