Default Subframe Connectors - Overhyped or worth it?

I see some very strong supporters of subframe connectors, but a lot of people who say you are better off not spending the money. For a typical bolt-on car is it even worth it?

Most argue that with a good suspension setup with coil overs properly adjusted, you can get the same results. Subframes is just covers up the true underlying problem.

Who knows, I will probably get them sometime in the near future.

This is one of the best mods that you can do to your car. Have them welded in. They improve the ride and handling of your car. You should also get good tires to go along with them.

Most of the debates have led me to believe that sfc really dont do anything to improve handling. But imo there purpose is to stiffen up the chasis since i like to drag race my car my chasis goes through a lot of abuse. So anything that will help in preventing me from wariping my frame and getting better tansfer of weight is good for me and if it helps handling thats is jsut a bonus.

100% worth it. Get the heaviest, boxed sub frames you can find. SLP makes the best on the market. It's the one aftermarket part that SLP does right. I got the powder coated ones. It makes jack stand use easier too. NASCAR style.

We all know F-bodies are prone to rattles, sometimes unidentifiable. SFC's, if nothing else, at least reduce them. No one denies that. IMO, they are definately worth it and for the people that say they aren't, well, go drive your squeaky, rattling car with sub frame flex.

Wink

This was the first mod I did. I bought the SLP bolt on SFC. Noticed a big difference the first drive after the installation. Stiffens up the whole ride. When you drive across low dips in the road is when you can tell the difference. Much flatter ride. Do it!

My car has few mods done to it and it has been flexed bad enough to crack the plastic dash peice. So yeah they are worth it.

hmm this is interesting. I never rode in an fbody with SFCs so I cant make a comparison. I've been looking into doing this but never get down to a solid brand choice. Its either BMR , Hotchkis , SLP... but i dont know which to choose.Any adivice? But i know i'll be getting Boxed style. Any reason why to get weld in's instead of the bolt on ones?

I have the UMI 3 points (similar to the SLPs but round tube not square), and have been very happy with my choice, I've also had the SLP 3 point (on a 3rd gen) you can't really go wrong with either of those, they stiffen the chassis, and keep the squeaks and rattles at bay, tho I've noticed the UMIs have better clearance that the SLPs (can't say if it's due to the application, or the part)
The weld ins are supposedly stronger, but I've never had a problem with the bolt in ones.
I chose the bolt ins because frankly I don't know a welder that I'd trust to be welding on my car

Thanks for the info. Yeah i'm expected to lose some ground clearence due to the box style than the tube ones. I would think that the weld ins would be stronger, since its' acutally welded onto the chassis instead of bolts.

Subframes are a MUST!!!!!!!!!1

If you want huge ripples in your rear quarter panels dont buy subframes, but if you want to spend a little money and buy subframes you will have a much stiffer car. If you have a T-Top car it is much more important to buy them.
