Which way should slotted rotors face?

Default Which way should slotted rotors face?
I always though they should go from inside to outside as the brake pad goes over it. Just like directional tires, start on inside go out. Now, I've seen two cars with them the other way. Does it matter?

They can go either way, it depends on the manufacturer.

Since the vents aren't directional you can flip them to the other side to face the other way. So it's up to the individual so I'm wondering if it matters.
