It's been said over and over that stock DeCarbons are complete junk so as far as I'm concerned these are better then what I had.
If they work for you and you're happy with them, great! It all goes back to the theory of "good enough". If Vogtland springs and Tokico shocks are "good enough" for you, then be happy. What Sam typically suggests are proven combinations that are sure to make the user happy, even though they might not be the most inexpensive. Someone else might get that exact setup and hate it, for whatever reason. For that person, the only thing that might be "good enough" are Penske coilvers.

Your posts in this thread came across as very defensive, like people who are crazy enough to spend $800 on shocks don't live in the "real world" or have "expenses beyond our cars". I saved up for months and agonized over the decision to drop that kind of money on shocks. I can assure you, my car budget often gets cut for other expenses around the house. But, to me, my KYB GasAJusts weren't "good enough" to go with my Hotchkis springs, and Koni SA's are. Might I have been happy with Tokico's? Maybe. But after reading so many posts from people who were happy with Koni's, I elected not take the chance.

He said they don't work well with a lowered vehicle....and all he was trying to do is help you out.

Parts are popular for a reason...because they work. People such as yourself go out of the way to be different only to find out the only reason what you're doing isn't done is because it doesn't work correctly.

Like Sam said, it only looks like you are looking for someone to pat you on the back for this decision....I doubt you'll find anyone here willing to do that.

I wish better was all I had to live up to.... My job would be a LOT easier. I'm not just not willing to accept better as equal to correct. If the customer knows the difference that's fine, but I'm not going to lie to them about it.

WHEN did I EVER say I was looking for a pat on the back? Someone asked about them and I happen to have them and haven't driven the car with them yet. Sam is NOT the only person in the world with an opinion. I found several others that found Tokicos to be fine with lowering springs and even Tokico's site states they were designed for lowering springs.

Tokicos are a cheap bilstein. I had them on my SHO and they are just OK. Stiffer than stock but the valving is not great. If I had a choice, I would go revalved bilsteins anyday. I'd prob take regular bilsteins over tokicos...They prob compare price wise (the revalved ones).

GETGONE you are missing the point other people are trying to tell you. Just because their website says its ok to run them with lowering springs doesn't mean you should. That's why this site is great, prevents people from putting crap on their car when there are clearly better solutions.

But are these "other" people reputable like Sam? He deals with these cars everyday and knows what works and what doesn't. I also had to save for months to get my konis. My car is not my only priority in life. If you can't afford to do it once, how can you afford to do it twice?
