Default Help steering play problem

Ok I had a belt break in one of my front tires that caused the front to shake bad. I had to drive it like that for two days. After I got the new tire put on I now have play in my steering. When the tires are dead straight you can turn the wheel to the 11 and 1 o'clock position with no movement of the tires. I did a search and found that the rag joint may be to blame but then one guy with a 98 and up said the ls1 cars dont have the rag joint. Any Ideas.

Have someone sit inside the car and move the steering wheel just within it's play. Then look under the hood while he is doing it. There is a joing in the steering shaft right by the drivers side header. My car had this same problem and I could see that the top of the shaft was moving, but below the joint wasn't. It was called a rag joing and I had it replaced. A million times better now. Hope that helps.

LS1s dont have rag joints like an LT1 does.

An LS1 just has a little u-joint. It is possible the joint is worn, or the steering shaft is not on tight.

my steering wheel also moves slightly without moving the tires... It started doing it after i changed out my k-member & a-arms... I have not really investigated any further to figure it out though.
