Help with front Caliper Bolts...they just keep spinning

Default Help with front Caliper Bolts...they just keep spinning

I was trying to paint the front calipers red today and my front caliper bolts on the drivers side just keep spinning...won't tighten or loosen...I'm confused on this one...What am I not doing here....Thanks

Are you talking about the bolts that attach the caliper to the bracket the pads ride in?

If so, the bolt is threaded into a pin that rides in that caliper bracket (allows the caliper to move/float). Anyway, there is a "flat" on the caliper pin that you can put a open end wrench on (16mm wrench if I remember right). You will need to hold this to unthread the caliper bolt... or the bolt will just go around and around and never come out. The flat may be slightly covered by the rubber seal (its the ribbed rubber thing between the caliper and the bracket). You can just push this out of the way if it is.

If that is not the bolt you are talking about then you probaby broke something...

I haven't had the bolts off the Camaro yet, but on other
cars the threaded bit is fairly short and after that you
have to draw the pin out, like with pliers; it doesn't back
out on the threads more than 3/8" or so before it's all
disengaged, and not motivated to move anymore.
