Default Brake crises

So im driving home from school and out of no where my brake pads rip themselves apart and in a matter of 4 or 5 seconds my rotors were shot... SO the car is sitting in the driveway with no brakes and me frustrated to beat hell. I need new pads and rotors and i would like to upgrade as much as possible but i only have about $400.... which isnt too much i know

i was looking and ws6store has a set (front & rear) of drilled and slotted rotors
for like $170 and they also have various other rotors from other companies too...

i was wondering if anyone had experiance with the cheaper ws6store brakes as i would like to have a little money for the start of summer...

also i was going to get the green stuff brake pads ive heard those are pretty good too....

any suggestions would be grately appreciated as my car is no drivable and i want to get back on the road...

lol sorry for the length of the post, but its like ****! thanks guys

Autozone rotors are favored by many as they are inexpensive and durable (with a guarantee). Add your favorite brake pad and you're good to go. This combo should suit you fine unless you are into road racing.

Know that drilled/slotted rotors are only for looks, and if you want better stopping power you can get a good quality set of blank rotors from AutoZone, and with a great set of pads you'll be stopping better than before.

Blank rotors+great pads will stop better than drilled/slotted rotors+great pads due to more rotor surface for the brake pads to grab on to.

how could you paint them? if you paint the rotor the pads would rub it off...

ok, well, the stock rotor surface does rust. and most aftermarket rotors come zinc plated to prevent that. which is why i was unsure if the autozone rotors would prevent the rust.

the rust on the face of the rotor is a non-issue because if you hit the brakes ABRA CADABRA rust is gone...

When they plate the rotors they do the entire rotor. After the pads are broke in, the plating on the friction surface of the rotor is gone and they will flash rust if they get wet. But as soon as you drive the car and hit the brake the rust gets wiped away. The plating is only intended for the non friction areas. Mine were nickel plated and the the manufacturer told me to do the break in proceedure after the plating is worn through so the pads can bed properly. Hope this helps.

Yes. Just get the Autozone blanks, a bottle of high temp paint, and a set of good pads (I like the Raybestos quiet stop ceramic)

Make sure you torque the wheels correctly and you should be fine.
