Default Full scoop on HAL shocks....??

I would like to handle as well as good a good drag setup. I have been convinced not to get the eibach pro-kit only because i can lower my car with the setting with the Hals if i wanted to. Now, does this kit have seperate setings for the ride height and stiffness? Or, do they work hand in hand (i.e. stiffer means higher softer means lower) because i know the shocks are good but i dont want to get the springs if they are going to be soft springs just for weight transfer because like i said i also want to handle good. And even though i would be able to lower the car for handling, if lowering it means softer setting for the springs wouldnt that deplete the purpose of lowering the car?

The front HALs can be adjusted for ride height by cranking the spring perch up or down. There are no rear HAL springs and ride height is not adjustable unless you change the rear springs.

All HAL shocks are 12-way adjustable for stiffness. You can really tell the difference too. I set the fronts at +1 from full soft, and the front gets real bouncy and soft. Makes for great launches, but is kind of scary when you hit the brakes at 120mph at the end of the strip.

As for a full on "handling" shock, HALs are not the best choice though. My car came equipped with Koni DAs. I had Eobach springs and KONIs on the car for a while. Now that thing would corner hard as hell with those, but they suck for dragging.

Just depends on the performance approach you want to take.

According to Reckless, you cant adjust ride height except in the front. So should i get the Hal springs with the shocks or just the shocks???
Because i can get the package for some $600. But i have been bombarted with people saying you shouldnt lower your car because it affects weight distribution. But I'm not talking about a rice burner drop of 2 inches. Just a moderate nothing over 1 and a half inches.

Get the whole kit. There are modifications to original springs if you don't. You can set front ride height to what ever you want. I just kept it at stock height.
I noticed a huge improvement with my QA1 (HAL) shocks.
Get them you will not be disappointed.

They are one of the best Mods that I have done on my car so far. Adjustability is so cool.

A pointer on installing these....The front springs are real soft, therefore, the nut needs to be 3/4's the way up the shock to reach stock ride height. Also, the "spanner wrench" is junk. Use a pair of channel locks to turn the nuts. When removing the stock spring/shocks, make sure to have enough tension on the spring compressor to when you remove the stud nut noone gets hurt. A press will be best They work great and look good too

real quick.....so is it bad to lower your car all around. Because it seems that if i wanted to i would just get the HALs and springs with a 1.5" drop. Is this ok/good idea? if so any suggestions about springs?

Are the Hal's dual adjustable? I'm not familiar with the terms but can you adjust it so the shock extends easily on the launch but is stiff to compress? Seems like if it were soft to compress, it could transfer weight back to the front after a hard launch.

not really dual adjustable, but your theory is correct. when you see specs like 90/10, it's talking about percentage of extension compared to compression. shocks like that do exactly what you were talking about, they raise/extend up really fast and get the weight back to the rear tires, but compress back down to normal slower than a stock shock, in turn keeping more weight over the rear tires. hope this helps.

Let's clear this up some, the fronts are the only ones you can adjust the ride height on. There is a nut which is the bottom spring perch and it spins onto the out-side of the shock and this is how you adjust the ride height. The rears have no such adjustment, unless you put shorter springs on which will affect your traction unless you relocate your lca mounts. They all four have a small dial/**** which has 12 settings on each where you can adjust from soft to stiff. Hope that helps.
