I just did new rotors and pads (Autozone brand) a few weeks ago and i'm getting an annoying squeak at low speed/pressure situations. I know its not the pads on rotors, could it be the metal to metal on pad to caliper?? Any ideas how to fix because its really annoying, not to mention embarrasing
Thanks
Thanks

I just did autozone pads and rotors as well. Brake squeel is often from the pad vibrating against the caliper. You can buy some brake quiet, which is a spray you put on the back of the pads to fill in the pits and valleys on the pad backing. Then when you put on the pads it will cause less vibration, and get rid of the sound. Mine have been dead quiet since I put them on. Think im finally done braking them in too, now I can drive faster

Thanks for the response. Thats what i thought was making the damn noise. Do I have to remove the pads again or can I just spray while they are mounted??

Well, you have to take the caliper off to put the coating on the pad, so you might as well just pull the pad off the rotor and paint it outside so it doesnt get all over your car. I just put some masking tape all around the edge of the pad and put 2 layers of it on top of the back of the pad. Let it sit for 10 mins and put it back on. It will still be tacky...mines still tacky from a week ago. But its making no noise so im cool with it.

Well some pads are going to squeek no matter what you do to them due to the compound. MOST semi-metallic pads are going to squeek, no way around it.
A couple of things that can help with the squeeking is the blue stuff you put on the back of the pad as mentioned above, and another rule of thumb is to always spray everything down w/ Brake Cleaner before you put it back together. Doing this will take off a lot of the small particles on the rotor which could get wedged in between the pad and cause a squeek.
