Default Tire question for the experts...

Ok, here's my dilemma. With the addition of my latest mods (Stage II heads, cam, headers), I'm in need of some serious traction. I am still running the Goodyear F1's which give me basically no traction with my set-up. I have recently installed BMR LCAs and PHR which helped a tad but that's it.

I was first considering the Nitto DR's but I don't want this strictly to be a drag car. I am looking more along the lines of a "Pro-Touring" car, i.e. all around performance and handling rather than just straight line. The car is a weekend driver and doesn't get driven much and rarely ever in the rain. Also, I never autocross this car.

So for this I was considering the Nitto 555RII's for the rears anyway and will probably upgrade the fronts eventually as well.

Any thoughts or recommendations??

Thanks in advance.

Lou,

First off, your modification to my stock shifter has made a world of difference after 3 yrs of driving with it. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

OK, I don't have as much power as you, but I can say my new RII's are awesome. I had nitto DR's and regular Nitto extreme up front before these. I autox, drag race and it's a daily driver. These tires are awesome for the street, and honestly the next step I think is ET Streets which from what I have gathered are not all that streetable. On the other hand, the Nittos are not THAT great at the drag strip, but they do beat F1's. All IMHO.

Thanks for the reply John. I'm glad you like your Short Stick too!

Well I definitely will use whatever I choose for drag racing as well as all around driving so that's definitely a factor. The folks at Nitto actually were the ones who suggested the 555RII's based on what I told them. I just wanted to find out from some people that haver actually used them.
