Cooper Cobra tires
I got a good deal on some chrome Z28 rims I'm gonna pick up next weekend. Only thing is they come with Cooper Cobra GT's (16's). Right now I still have the stock GA's. The guy came down on the price because I am skeptical of the tires so I'm going to get them anyways.
Are these things comprable to the GA's or even worse? It's gonna set me back cash wise for a few months so I have to run these tires for at least 3 months.
I'm not gonna kill myself with these am I?

I've got those exact tires on the front of my 95 Formula (and I had them out back until I got my Toyo RA-1s) and they really aren't that bad. They are a great all season tire, they got me through a pretty severe ice/snow storm this winter with no problems, and they work well in the rain. For cornering they aren't too bad unless you really push it hard. Off the line they are better than RSAs (I had RSAs on my 95 TA and they sucked!) and since RSAs are better than GAs, you should be fine.

Re: Cooper Cobra tires
Well, I run those tires. Not by choice mind you as they came on the car, but I do run them. Straight line traction? What's that? I was racing last night, and the frist time I launched at about 1600 - 1700 (M6 car) I tore them up all the way through first, short shifted into second, and then rode out with the rear end kicked completely out for about 200-300 feet.
Needless to say, I could smell the burn after that.
After that run thought, I ***** footed it off the line and they weren't *TOO* bad; however, when I shift into second I roast um for about 100 feet.
