Default AutoZone Rotor Users Inside

So far I've heard only good things about their rotors and was thinking of going with them.
Looking on their website, they did not differentiate between a Z28 and a regular Camaro.

1) Are the brake rotors for V6 Camaro the same as a Z28? If no, what part number did you order (I only found 55034)?

2) What pads did you buy and is the dust & squeaking minimal?

TIA.

Hey boss, I went with Advance rotors and bendix pads and havent had a warping problem and minimal brake dust for about a year now. Autozone up here only has a 3 year warranty on their pads, Advance has lifetime.

PS: I run the he** out of my car

Just my .02

I dont know if the V6 and 8 are the same.

Later, Stu

I have the autozone rotors on my Z in the front and I am nothing but happy. The total cost with pads, rotors, and 'brake quiet' was like $140 for all new brakes on the front. Installed them myself using install university howto and it was a piece of cake. Have no warping or any probs and ive had them for about 3 months now.

I had a 97 V6 and the rear brakes were drum..so id assume the brakes are different in one way or another.

2. I bought raybestos pads and they have very light dust. Brake squeaking/squeeling is caused by the pad vibrating against the caliper. Get some Permatex "disc brake quiet" (part no 80077) or something related to it. It is basically a coating you spray on the back of the pad and it fills in all of the small grooves and pits, then when it gets pressed by the caliper piston it doesnt make the vibration - and remains quiet. I recently had a squeal, popped out the pads, put 3 coats of spray, let them dry for 10 mins, put em on and havent had any squeal since.

EDIT: I did order my rotors online, and it lets you specify the engine size at the bottom of the last page when you add your car to the profile. Then it narrows down the brake part list to the disc brakes for the rear. I got the right parts this way.

93-97 brakes are the same regardless of engine. 98-02 brakes are the same regardless of engine.

Some early V6 cars came with drums in the back. That's about the only difference.

actually GM did update their OEM pads about midway through the 01 model year so there is a difference.

I put the Autozone Rotors and I forget which pads but I did buy them at Autozone.

The Rotors are Warp free after 20K miles but the pads Squeek but it takes about 2-3 weeks before the wheels are black. Most dust than stock pads but not horrible like some pads that I have been reading. Black in 2 days? Id put those in the trash after the second day

The rears are almost on the sensors, Ill probably do Autozone Rotors and check into some better pads.

i`ve used the Autozone pads and they worked good... got some noise (rears) so I took `em off sanded them down and alll is good now.. I think they were glazed.Dusting was low with their pads...almost none with the Ceramics from NAPA.
