Koni shock questions...

Koni shock questions...
I'm looking into getting some Koni double adjustable shocks. The question I have is I plan to lower my car with the G2 super springs. Do these shocks need to be re-valved like the Bilsteins or do they work fine on a lowered car? Also I see you have to adjust the shocks from the top. So will I have to take my STB off everytime I want to adjust them? Thanks!

Re: Koni shock questions...
That's what totally rocks about Koni's. What ever spring combinination you have (coils and stab bar, control arm bushings) you can adjust the koni's level of damping control. In short, no, you won't have to get them re-valved.
FWIW, I like the koni single adjustables for autoxing because it's possible to tune the car with just rebound and they are cost effective. Typically compression adjustments are more for ride, and from a performance stand point it's very important for road courses which have irregular surfaces.

About adjusting them from the top, on the DA's, the front ones adjust under the wheel well and the rear ones from the top of the shock shaft, so no you won't have to remove your STB to adjust the fronts. Just a hint, get the part numbers for the shocks from say 1le.net and check prices at different places, like hint hint www.gmpartsdirect.com they are like half of the price than it would be if you purchased them from anyone else

Re: Koni shock questions...
Ya, Summit doesn't list them in their web sight or catalog. You have to call them. The price at gmpartsdirect is for one shock, not a pair. Trust me, I almost made that mistake.

Re: Koni shock questions...
Ok I see that now, they want $138.80 shipping! For a total of $833 shipped for just the front 2 shocks, ouch! How much are they from Summit front & back? LMperformance has front & back DA for $1189.

Re: Koni shock questions...
Well I was looking at Koni DA's so I only recorded that price from summit. It was $198.69/shock in the front and $135/shock in the rear.
I know they carried the DA's as well, but I didn't write down the price. Give em a call.

Re: Koni shock questions...
I see LMPerformance has the Koni DA SPECIALS for that price. I don't see that they have the koni DA Sports. There is a HUGE difference between specials and sports. Specials are basically a replacement shock, and the sports are a performance upgrade.
For Auto X and RR everyone uses the Sports. I don't know anyone who's bought the specials.
Did summit say if their price was for specials or sports?

Re: Koni shock questions...
The part numbers the Summit guy gave me match shox.com's Sport shocks so I'll assume that's what they are. Specials are out but they're not much cheaper at all than the sports. Shox wants $1234.80 with free shipping & Summit wants $1239.80 + shipping so Shox has the best price.

Re: Koni shock questions...
You're not going to find new Koni Double adj for much less then around $1200. I've got a set of used ones I will sell for $700 shipped if anyone is interested.
