Default ! LS1 Poly motor mounts installed !

Well, OK they are not made for an LS1, but they work!

What I got was two Energy suspensions part number 3.1116R. These are made for LT1 cars, they are identicle except for two things. One, they are .3" shorter front to back (taken care of with three washers), and Two the metal protrusions are different. I ended up cutting off two of the metal protrusions and useing the afore mentioned washers, with great results. You will also need 3 bolts and nuts per clamshell to bolt it back together.

Now, I put in the two new mounts yesterday. I was actually surprised to find out the car in now SMOOTHER with them in! There is just a hint of vibration at idle, but my lumpy TR224/224 cam now feels totaly smooth at idle (before it would shake the car). I am not currnetly running a poly tranny mount. But am very impressed with the poly motor mounts sofar. Today I drove the car over a hundred miles, all smooth sailing.

Any way, if Yall have any questions, just shoot them my way.

I have a set also I am getting ready to put in. How hard is the install and how did you do it? By th eway I put the tranny mount in. I ground off the two nubs on the top of the mount and left the preload plate off. It got rid off all the banging under the car.

Fireball, For the install, I removed the headers. I installed one side at a time. What I did was to place a jack under the motor and then remove the 4 bolts that hold the motor mount to the K-member and then remove the four bolts that hold the mount to the motor. Then jacked the motor as high as possible and removed the assmebly. After removing the long bolt I drilled the parts that hold the clamshell together. Removed the rubber mount and installed the poly mount. I had to cut two of the metal ears off the poly mount, you'll see which ones, because they make it difficult to get the bolts back in place when re-installing the mount. I was amazed at how soft the stock mounts had become.

wish I would've known about this 2 days ago when the motor was out of the car <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
But with the BMR tubular K-member it shouldn't be too bad of a job <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I was just thinking about doing the tranny mount on my 02 SS cause I heard it will help with the banging I get....which one should I get and how hard is it to put in? Is it something that can be done in an hour or so without a lift? Thanks for the help.

Hey Guys, I am glad this is working out for you! I still love the poly mounts. Drive ability is completely unaffected with the Poly motor mounts.

If you guys have any specific questions about the mounts or how to get it done, let me know.

Do you recommend using the driver side mount only?

Yes, you can, you just have to pull down harder to get it.

I'm curious whether you have any experience with removing the tranny with these mounts.

I'm wondering if you can tilt the motor back enough with these motor mounts to get at the top bolts on the bellhousing to remove the tranny. Anyone know?
