Panhard rod question...

Panhard rod question... Still learning. Please pardon the simple question.
What is the specific function of the panhard rod? It looks like it provides lateral support for the rear suspension. I thought that was what the stabilizer bar was for.
The reason I ask ist that MTI is offering a sale on Hotchkiss suspension parts. The Panhard rod is selling for $75. Is this a good deal??

Re: Panhard rod question... The panhard does indeed locate the axle laterally with respect to the chasis. The sway bar should be called an anti-roll bar because that's what it does, i.e. resist body roll during conering.

Re: Panhard rod question... Hotchkis web site shows the black panhard rod list for $125, BMR panhard list for $90 and can be had in different colors. If you don't care what color the panhard is the Hotchkis would be a good deal, for $15 more ( and that's without a GP on them ) you can get a colored one... it depends on you if the $15 more is worth it. Good luck with your choice.
