dealer had already cut them twice.) After much whining, they gave me another set.GM "accomodated"
me because my original brake pads still had almost 50% of the meat left and that convinced them I didn't abuse the brakes. However, by 40k miles the second set were toast. My dealer also has a truck division and one day while gabbing with the parts guy, he suggested...are you ready for this?.....J. C. Whitney rotors. Made in Canada they are cross drilled and slotted and cost about $65 each.
I now have about 12k miles on them and they are still as true as the day they were installed, which is more than I can say about the OEMs which by that time were thumping something fierce. My
mechanic ran them out prior to installation and said they were perfect. He's pretty meticulous
about rotors on big engined cars and always uses a torque wrench rather than an air gun for
tightening. Ditto for the wheel lugs.
Just one person's somewhat limited experience, but they seem to be real winners. So far.

Not flaming GM but you'd think this major flaw would have been solved by now? Oh well, I was looking at eradispeeds, but if $60-$75 rotors work fine, then why pay more?

I'd like to hear more about these drilled and slotted j.c. whitney rotors. $65 is dirt cheap if they are quality.
Well, they are drilled and slotted, but they look different than my OEM rotors. The hat sticks out quite a bit. I wonder if they work with OEM calipers. $65 a piece isn't that bad if they are a good product.
<strong>Is there a difference in LT1 rotors and LS1 rotors? They aren't showing any LS1 years on their details page.
I myself have the EBC brakes, and they are awesome.</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The link I posted above shows LS1/LT1 years.

This morning I tried it, and the page wouldn't load, so I just went from the homepage and walked my way through, and they were only showing from 83-97 on the one I saw. Thanks.

<strong>"I wonder if they work with OEM calipers?"
They were a drop in fit on my 1999 SS</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So you actually are running these rotors? They look pretty cool. I'll need some rotors soon. I might give them a try. I don't think drilled/slotted rotors help much, escpecially on the street. It might be different for autocross or something. They'll be a nice appearance mod though.

<strong>I have a little over 12,000 miles on them and so far they are true and warp free. Don't know if the slots and holes make any difference. Whitney always had them up to '98 but they OEMs were changed in '99 and Whitney only started stocking them last year. I'm not a particular fan of Whitney stuff except where it's a brand name item (which they do usually sell at good prices.)
