Default Another ARP Wheel Stud Question...HELP

Okay changed the fronts out...no problem other than having to buy some cheapo open end lug nuts for the time being.

Different story for the rears. The rear hub has the backplate behind it that the e-brake pads and all that stuff fits in.

I can knock the stock studs out and they will barely fit between the back of the hub and backplate but there's no way that I see the longer ARP studs going in. Just doesn't look like there's enough room to turn them back there and get 'em lined up with the holes.

Other than pulling the axle, which was recommended to me by the vendor, how the heck do I get them in there???

Would it cause problems to drill a hole in the backplate to feed the studs through???

Help please. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

its hard enough to get the stock ones in there, you will have to pull the axle <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

When I changed out to longer studs I ran into this same thing, I almost pulled the cover to get at the axles but than I thought GM had to make this easier. Its not like snapping studs never happens so I started looking all over the housing end and saw that the traction control sensor lined up with the studs, popped that out and had an quick time throwing the new studs in there. If you don't have traction control you should have a block-off plate that should be able to be removed like the sensor

Did that make any sense <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I hope you're right about the block off plate and yes it makes perfect sense. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks! I'll post if it does or not. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I'm gonna try to get out there this weekend and look. I kinda scanned over the brakes the other day when I was pounding in my wheel wells but it didn't look like a block off plate was there. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I hope I'm wrong. At the same time, I'm following a post about the H&R spacers with their own built in studs. I may end up not having to mess with the rears after all. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
