Default Need some advice on the best way to heat up tires...

I drive a 2k2 WS-6 M6. It is my first manual transmission vehicle and I wanted to know the best technique when heating up tires at the track. I'm running Nitto 555's 275/40/17. Any suggestions? Only mod's on the car are SLP airbox lid, K&N filter and exhaust cut-out.

thanks

it's a little tricky to power brake a manual at first, but you'll get the hang of it. My personal preference is to have th heal of my right foot on the brake and my toe on the gas and get the RPMs up around 1500-1700 and dump the clutch. of course it isn't easy on the clutch, but it'll get 'em nice and sticky!!!

The other option is to buy a Line Lock kit from one of the Vendors.

I just dont bother with the line locks and powerbraking, I rev to 5000 and dump the clutch, but thats either cause I barley race, or im just too cheap to buy a line lock.

I was told to dump the clutch at 5000, slam the brakes and feather between 5000-6000. Will that work? I don't race much and wouldn't really consider a line lock unless I really needed to.

thanks again.

That's what I do. I do it in the damp part just in front of the water box. Easy as pie. Towards the end of the burnout release the brake and continue the burn up towards the line. This'll ensure they're clean and dry.

I rev it up and dump the clutch and then hit the brake and feather the gas while they spinn then i left off the brake and spinn a little towards the line, then i hit the clutch back in and coast to the line. make sure you turn off tcs before you start this, and i would suggest praciting in a parking lott before doing this at the track so that you will have the feel of it.
