Default Does a bad shock make a clunking noise?

I have the weak factory shocks w/ 48k miles on them. A new noise started yesterday. When I go over bumps, or when I push down on the rear of the car, there is a loud clunking noise coming from the left rear. I got underneath and found nothing loose or broken. I don't notice the car handling any worse, but could it be the shock?

I get a clunk too when I break the tires loose and it trives me crazy. I thought It might be the exhaust or something. Its definitely a metal to metal "bonk". Here's a TTT for ya.

If you have aftermarket suspension parts under there (sub frame, panhard rod, lower control arms etc) more than likely your bolts are not tight.

Same thing happended to me, they were on very tight and it made the sound, I took them off, cleaned them, used lock tight and it fixed it.

They may seem tight but they really arnt.
