Default Tokiko shocks.. Anyone running them, why or why not...

I found Tokiko shocks at Thunder Racing:
http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...ategoryid=1068

And i'm wondering why I haven't heard more about these shocks on F-bodies. The price seems reasonable, and I know the Import crowd favors them. Anyone have these on their f-bod? Opinions, or if anyone has heard anything about them, would be greatly appreciated.

First off, you can Bilstein HD's for basically the same price and have better damping and quality. Not that that Tokico's are bad at either, but they are not Bilstein's. The Tokico's are not suitable for any kind of heavy lowering spring. They are okay shocks, but for the price you'd be better served with Bilstein's if you are running stock springs. If you are running heavier lowering springs you should be looking at something more like a Koni or a revalved rate Bilstein (tweaked to damp higher rate springs).

The last time I ran the Tokico rears on a 3rd gen (same shock BTW), even the Illumina's on #5 setting didn't offer the control the Bilstein's or Koni's do.

All in all a good shock, and an slight upgrade for a mostly stock car. But better can be had for the 4th gen, for not a lot more money at all. Great on Honda's and even damn good on Mustangs, but missed something in the F-body valving
