SS vs. WS6: suspension
This may seem like a stupid question, but I want no for sure. Do Camaro SSs come with the identical suspension as the WS6. I know the trans ams of the seventies were excellent handlers as a result of the ws6 package which could only be found on TAs. Also I am potentially interested in buying a black Camaro SS from the LS1 years. What year inparticular had orange SS badging on the side front quarter panels and the grill? This is my favorite color combination.

Re: SS vs. WS6: suspension
I believe (not sure at all) that the suspensions are the same. The WS6 package includes the ram air hood and 17" rims w/ 275 all around...thats where you see a handling boost. But again im not positive of this....need a hawk or ws6 guy to confirm this.

Re: SS vs. WS6: suspension
From '96 to very early '00 (production date before 11/99), the SS/WS6 had much of the 1LE suspension except for the Koni shocks. SS/WS6 cars built 11/99 and later that do not have an optional SLP suspension (does not apply to WS6) have the same suspension as a base Z28 except for a 1LE front sway bar, 1LE LCA's and 1LE PHB.
The WS6 package has evolved into an "appearance" package for the most part.

(Not sure about '98-'99.) I confess that I don't know squat about the WS6's suspension, but here is a link to the SS/1LE/Optional Bilstein SS suspension specs. It's straight from SLP:

The base SS suspension uses neither the 1LE front sway bar, 1LE LCA's, or 1LE PHB.
This is half of your answer, FBird9668. Maybe one of the WS6 guys can give you the other half. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

As with the WS6, it is the only difference from the base Z28/Trans Am suspension installed at the factory.
