Default BTS suspension

Is anyone here using the bilstein bts suspension system on their car. It comes with shocks and bilstein spring. Its kinda hard to find, i was at jba the other day and saw a brochure for the kit but never heard of anyone using it. If so how much does it drop the car and is it a good setup? thanks

I have it installed on my Z (I'm probably the only one here who has done it), the car dropped perfectly all around and the handling/stance is greatly improved. Expect the ride to be a little rough though. The spring rates are matched to the shocks which are Bilstein HD's, that way the springs (made by Hyperco) won't wear out the shocks.

Copy and paste this link in a new browser window. This was take right after the install.

I wanted something matched and designed by Bilstein and I'm very happy with my choice.

My one and only complaint though, Bilsteins warranty dept is deplorable.

Hope this helps...

If they were, I'd sell the BTS kit instead of going through the trouble of revalving the shock all the time. The BTS is not an outright performance package, you can determine that by the use of the progressive rate springs. And yes, the ride is a bunch harder than it has to be because the spring rates are stiffer than they need to be IMHO.

This is why I tend to stick with Eibach Pro-kits (more sane rate, and linear too). Linear spring are much easier to damp properly, which is why race cars don't use progressive spring BTW. Further info: Bilstein HD's are actually lacking in high-piston speed rebound when compared to even a stock DeCarbon. This combined with a much stiffer spring rate isn't optimal.

If you still want the Bilstein BTS, try www.performancecenter.com under "Shocks & Struts Vehicle Specific" for $584 which is the cheapest price I've seen. While noting what Sam Strano says, the car is much much better at speed than the stock DeCarbon set-up. I would agree it could probably be better but ignorance is bliss if you've never tried anything else. BTW, the fitting instructions with the BTS kit are deplorable and for the sake of the cost of the parts of the front unit that have to be re-used, you'd think they'd ship the front shocks as a ready assembled bolt-in unit. I also got my kit by return instead of having to wait for the shocks to be revalved so you pays your money...
