How to Spring Install
If you are still on stock shocks, be prepared for the nuts on the front shock rod to be rusted to the rod. Short of luck with air tools, many people end up destroying their front shocks to get the spring off.
To save some aggrevation, you may want to take the front spring/shock assembly to a local shop and have them compress and take apart the old stuff and then compress and put together the new stuff. This will save you from having to rent a McPherson strut compressor and the inherent dangers with these things under pressure. There's a few specially bits and tools required but nothing expensive.

Btw, I know it's more money but it would really pay off in the long run if you put new shocks on there at the same time. Many people use the revalved Bilsteins by Sam Strano with the Prokit. Price???
I personally have used KYB AGX 8-way adjustables for about the last 30k miles with pretty good success. The fronts work great. The rears could be better but they work for now and they're only about $90 each. Got them in an emergency(broke shocks) from Advance Auto.
Go to your local hardware store and buy a cupped wire brush that will chuck up in your hand drill.
You can get all that rust off and then use lots of penetrating oil.
Run the nut back a couple of turns, then tighten it back down, spray with pnentrating oil. Repeat, gradually running the nut further and further off each time.
Anyways, tons of people have used my spring install writeup and seem to say it works well so maybe give it a shot.
My hat's off to ya!
jmX, that is an AWESOME install site! The pictures, WITH ARROWS AND NOTES, make it one of the best install sites I've seen in a while. Don't know why I never came across it before! I'll be bookmarking it for future use, that's for sure. (Heck, you made the head swap look like something even I might try! )

All this stuff is so easy, but people don't realize they can do it themselves if they are willing to learn. I used to be afraid of cars since I didn't know anything about them. Now I love 'em.
