Default SLP Level 1 Suspension

I'm looking at putting the SLP Level 1 suspension on my '02 Z28. Anybody have one of these on their car? I'm looking for some feedback and opinions on living with this suspension kit on the street. My car is a daily driver, come sun, rain or snow. It really won't see any track use. I like the ride of my stock Z28 but I would also like to improve the handling. The SLP Level 1 suspension wont make the car ride like a log waggon or truck will it?

I have this and it did make the ride rougher. They come will poly bushing so it will not twist like rubber but will turn in response to stress. If you want a better ride stick with rubber or rubber/poly.

I don't mind the rougher ride. I got the kit for handling and for the springs since I have SLP LT headers and did not want any clearance issues.

In hindsight I would have just gotten the springs, and gotten LCA, adjustable Panhard bar, sway bar etc. from someone else. Even with the drop with SLP Eibach spring my rear still shifted and now I am going with an adjustable PHB.

Definitely a stiffer ride, but very good handling <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Aren't there 2 different LCA options available with the SLP level 1 suspension?

Wonder if the ride is different between the two.

I'm satisfied with the cars handling ability as it sits, I'm really after a BMW like ride handling balance when I replace the suspension.

I have heard conflicting reports about the SLP Level 1 - some say it is rougher than stock, others say it is much less jarring and better handling(BMW like) - this comes from GMHTP and C&D road tests of Firehawks equipped with the Level 1 option.

I have had this suspension for almost 45000 miles. It was one of the first things I did to the car. The main difference from stock is the car has much more predictable handling. For example, fishtailing on a sharp curve; the stock suspension tends to whip the rear around harshly while the SLP is a smooth transition that is easily brought under control. If this has ever happened on damp roads you know what I mean. The bushings are not polyeurathane but are a hard (duromater) rubber, they are still vastly superior to the stock bushings. I would recommend you get the boxed panhard and LCAs. Also get subframe connectors and a strut tower brace. As far as harshness goes, the shocks are valved for more rebound, (I think) so they tend to slap the pavement harder on the other side of the bump.Around town, they will feel a little rougher. When you get on the highway or on the back roads the smoothness of the package will really shine through. My buddy has a '95 Formula and the difference between his stock suspension and the SLP is extreme. My other buddy has a BMW, and he cannot loose me in the twisties. That's mostly because my power makes up the small gains he achieves.

I have to disagree with the ride issue. I put the Level 1 kit on my car after 15k miles. I do have SFC and a STB though. The ride is firmer but less harsh. Hitting RR crossings and expansion joints where back breaking with the stock shocks. The car in MUCH more responsive than it used to be. I highly recommend this package for a daily driver. I lowered my car 1" which makes it look much better.

Okay, the impression I'm getting is that the SLP Level 1 is less harsh and jiggly on small sharp impacts (busted up surface streets, rr tracks, expansion joints) than the stock suspension. It is stiffer, but not harsher - better control over what the suspension is doing but not in a jarring way.

Am I close to what y'all are thinking about it?
