9" can be made lighter with the aluminum center section and other such lightweight parts, but it gets pretty expensive there. Plus if you don't have TCS, you cannot retain your ABS. 12-bolt should be able to more then handle what you're putting down with the car just fine. It'll also be a little quieter.
