Default Nail in Nitto: Plug or not?

Well I went outside today to see my driver side rear tire w/ no air in it. I checked and sure enough, there's a small nail in it. The type of nail that you use to put pictures up on a wall. Well the Nitto's are about a month old and I didn't get the free replacement option from Discount Tire. It is safe to get Nitto's plugged? I really don't have the $$$ to replace it.

I had a 555RII plugged ~7K miles ago and it has not given any problems. It has been drag raced, autocrossed and road raced on as well.

I plugged one of my DRs once... worked fine. But if I had a choice (needed to go to work) I would have had someone patch it right. I think it would have only been $15 or something minor like that.

It's right smack dab in the middle of the tread. I guess I got lucky there. So should I just have Discount Tire plug it or should I ask for some special patch or something?

I used that sticky string thing that you push into the hole... nasty sticky stuff... works great though.

Have it patched internally and all will be fine!

Is the nail in the center of the tread or on the side? I f it is in the center i say to patch it.
I have done this twice & it has worked just fine.

i had the same thing happen to where i was dyno'ing at MTI and jason and i heard this god aweful clank clank clank each time the nail came in contact with the drum. just took it to a discount tire and had them patch it up. ran fine until it came time to replace them because of treadwear.

IF it was me I'd throw it out. But I drive mine pretty hard. My life and car are worth more to me than a 150 dollar tire. I would plug it only to limp home.

I've plugged tires in the past, and they've held up fine. But it only takes that one time for it to blow out, ya know. I don't even think any Tire shops plug tires anymore, they take the tire off the rim and patch it from the inside. It cost $10-15 and your tire would be like brand new. That is what I would do if I planned on racing on it.
