clunk from koni double adjustable?
my car has been making a clunk going over bumpy roads, much more noticeable at slower speeds (under 30). i thought it was a bad wheel bearing. so i changed them.
unfortunatlely, the noise is still there.
now i think that my drivers side koni double adjustable shock is making the "clunk". i bought it used two years ago. i autocrossed about ten times per season (maybe slightly more).
i drove up some rhino ramps, and had a friend push down on the car from above. seems like the clunk is coming from the shock area. any other way to diagnose a broken koni?

Most the ppl I race with, with Koni DA's rebuild them after 2 years. Since you bought them used and have used them for 2 years, it may just be time to rebuild them.
I've had mine 14 months with no problems.

Geez ... I contacted Koni about a rebuild ...
$140 ea labor for DAs and $100 each for SAs
PLUS any parts and shipping
It could easily run 2/3 of the cost new ... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Do you have a lot of leakage? Koni's tend to leak a lot. If you don't have excessive leakage then i could be something else. Probably not, as the statements about longevity are true. But if they are not it could save you some $$$$.
