sterring problems Its hard to explain. when the steering wheel is in the center position and you move it back and forth there is a little catch or click. with the car off and moving it you can hear like a clunk clunk as you turn wheel back and forth. You dont have to turn much just about 2 inches each way.
I figure it is either in the shaft with the u-joints on it or in the box below it any Ideas?

Re: sterring problems It sounds to me like a Inner Tie Rod is worn out. Like silverbullet said, while someone is turning the steering wheel put your hand on the Tie rod. If you can feel it pop or slip as the wheel is moved back and forth, then that is probably your problem.
Re: sterring problems Jack the car up. have someone grab the tire and move it side to side (like the car is turning)while your under the car looking and feeling. sometimes you cant detect the damaged parts while theres weight on them. sometimes it helps to remove the tires . then you can look while you wiggle <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> easier to check wheel bearings that way also <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
