Good info Steve! The stock pulley is light as hell, I can't imagine the LPE one being lighter but being able to pull the pump without getting the pulley off first is nice.

The guy at Turn One would know better though

Fenris ULF: I dont think its lighter either.. BUT it would be quite a bit stronger and I like knowing that I can pull the pump without messing with the stupid pulley (besides i generally HATE plastic parts).. Im also considering getting their pump since it supposed to drasticly reduce fluid temps durring "spirited" driving

Default Found source for HiPo steering pumps and such..

I thought you autox'ers and roadracers would appreciate this info:

I just found a great shop that does custom race prepped power steering pumps for our fbodies..

LPE sells these systems but I found the place that does the work and they are a wealth of infomation..

Here are the parts on LPE's site:
http://www.lingenfelter.com/lingenfe...p?dept%5Fid=18

I called Trun One directly and spoke with Jeff.. they build these pumps for race teams and he explained how the pumps (and pullies) are reworked.

Seems the (brief explanation) stock pump puts out about 12GPM but 2.4 to 2.8GPM of that goes to the rack.. the rest is just recirculated.. the reworked pump puts out about 6GPM so less energy is wasted just to move fluid around.. Im no expert so hopefully I didnt screw up his explanation too much

The pullies are nice for two reasons
1. they are NOT plastic
2. they have holes in them so you can pull the pump without pulling the pulley off.. (Oh and they look cool )

You can get a brief explanation of the parts off the LPE site but the parts are cheaper if you call them direct.. they are located in Michigan.

Ask for Jeff

He also explaind the difference between our pumps and the vette pumps.. seems our steel pumps are the absolute cheapest thing GM could come up with.. the Vette pumps (aluminum) are much better made. The pulley they offer will only work on the fbody pump.

Like I said, they are very nice and helpfull if you have questions about your steering systems..
