Default Please Help -- car tilts to the right.

Hello all-- I just noticed this today...when my car is at rest, and i'm standing at the rear i can see the passenger side of the car sags!
I measured it and yep, the pass. side of the car is 1 inch lower than the driver's side.

what could be causing this? could it be bad for the car?

'98z28, stock except for strut tower brace, ss-type hood, flowmaster exhaust. bought used with 19,700 miles...now 39,560 miles

Thank You

dude, it's been discussed alot on ls1.com

to make long story short -- GM made our cars this way for some reason, there were given many arguments why it is the way it is, but noone knows for sure

what i'm saying here -- you are not alone <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Wow, that makes me feel a lot better. You know, I think the car was always that way but I never noticed til now. First I thought the exhaust tips were crooked, but they're equal. thanks a bunch!

I have an 86' SVO that was doing the same thing. The springs on your car have basically relaxed. There are a few options you can choose. You can lower the driver side of the car to be in sync with the passenger side by cutting the springs. You can also go another way by using spring spacers to raise the lazy side to be level with the driver side. Lastly, you can upgrade to new springs. I know it looks really f*cked up, to see your car leaning. I would use spring spacers to level the lazy side up. It is cheaper and is not a half assed repair. You can get the spacers from Global West. www.globalwest.net

sawedoff, BIGBOS

thank you for the website. nice to know there's something that can be done.
since i don't have much money (just got married) i'll probably just leave it alone.
i may upgrade the suspension anyway

Thanks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

If you do buy new springs dont be disapointed if it still doesnt sit level. My little bro's car sat a little over an inch lower on the passenger side so we replaced the springs with a set of lowering springs thinking it would solve the problem. While it did get it a little closer to sitting level, its still not perfect. Now its about 5/8 of an inch lower on the passenger side.

Remember the right side of the car weighs more. It's got the battery and A/C junk over there in addition to the spare tire and jack. That is probably why the right sits lower. This is actually good because it counter-balances the weight of the driver. Have someone your weight sit in the driver seat and see if the right is still lower. If it is, then consider using a spacer, but always shoot for level with a driver in it.

Interesting to see this thread...
I have an '02 SS conv (just over 3000 miles on it) and I just noticed, ...Pass side (rear) is about 1/2" lower than driver's. Has the Bilstein suspension, ...there is just about 3/4" from right rear tire to wheelwell lip on Pass. side, ...and 1 1/4" on driver's side. ...didn't know what think about it.
