Default Is Factory Power Steering Cooler Adequate?

For those that road race your F-body, have you found that your factory power steering cooler is adequate? What are some of the problems that you have had?

Yes ... I believe it is ...

After running a 20 minute session at Motorsport Ranch in summer heat, temps (taken via a pyrometer) after a cool down lap were usually in the 180-200 range with a Trans AM back-fitted with a WS6/SS cooler.

My TA has a 2 pass 24" trans cooler in-line and temps on it were usually 20-40 degrees hotter.

I was convinced and purchased a stock cooler rig. I plan on installing it this spring and might consider running both coolers ...

I have never heard of anyone with the factory cooler having problems. Especially if you underdrive it. If you want to take it one step further, you could always put a transmission cooler in line before the factory cooler. This would do two things:

1) reduce the power steering fluid temp

2) with the reduced power steering fluid temp, the engine water passing over the cooler would not take up so much heat resulting in a cooler running engine. (why I can't stand auto trans coolers in the engine radiator )
