Default Installing SFC

I will be installing SFC's soon and would like to know if I have to remove the floor carpet before I weld them on???

A friend of mine works at a body shop welded them and we didnt remove the carpet. We did watch to make sure there wasn't anything burning. You will be fine.

I welded my subframe connectors to the car with the carpet in.

Just do short sections (between 0.5" and 1.5") at a time so as not to overheat the area. I did get it a little too warm a few times and it made the padding under the carpet smoke a little (very little) but nothing was damaged (just browned the underside of the padding....not the carpet).

Anyone who has welded for any length of time should have some idea how hot they are getting things and know when to move to another area.
