Default Eibach Pro Kit on stock shocks?

I've heard that this is bad and Ive heard that it doesn't hurt. Anyone know for sure if it will make the shocks wear prematurely or not? Today, someone told me that once the shock wears out the springs warp because they take all of the load and will bounce. Will I be okay with some Bilsteins or something close to that? I don't even know what my options are. How much more stiff will the car be with aftermarket shocks and lowering springs? I don't want to be jarred all the time. Eventually, I know it will annoy me. And I also don't have a lot of money to be spending either. My car was lowered for about a year on stock shocks and stock cut springs. I cut about two coils from the front and it dropped the car about two inches. I had to do it in order for the car to look right with my rim/tire set-up. I'm selling the rims with the springs now so thats why I need new ones. I'm thinking about just going with cut stock shocks again. Its free and rides like stock. Then maybe adding swaybars for even more added cornering ability. What can I do?

Worn shock won't warp the springs. The springs won't wear out the shock either. If you are changing springs I would definetly recommend getting rid of the stock DeCarbons. Bilstiens work for me.
If you can not afford the whole set, just buy the fronts now and install them with the springs. Then when you get some more money up, buy the rears and sling them in since they are a bit easier than the fronts.

I installed my pro-kit with the stock decarbons last month... rides fine to me and no problems, but they haven't been there for long!

CopMagnet: What do you think of the eibachs? Is the ride rough now?

Judd: I think you have the right idea. I can afford the bilstein shocks, I was even thinking about getting them. But what are they going to do for me? Will they make the ride less rough with the eibachs? I had cut springs for a year that dropped the car two inches and it was great. It rode just like stock except it was lower. It even handled a quite a bit better because of the lower center of gravity. I think stock shocks with cut springs will work fine for me again except thsi time with only a one inch drop and then some aftermarket sway bars. That way it will be lower, ride good and corner a whole lot better. I think the sway bars will do more for my handling than the shocks.

A good set of shocks can make a stock vehicle handle considerably better with few other changes. The better shocks control the transient response of the vehicle (it keeps the car from "falling over" on the outside tires in a corner). You may want to look into something like Tokico Illumina shocks, they are somewhat adjustable and reasonably priced (www.ground-control.com among others carry them). Good luck!

I had the Pro kits on stock shocks on my 95 Z and loved it. Did not drop it too much. Planning on the same for my 99. Try RD Enterprises at www.shox.com and see what they have. They used to sell a Tokico HP (not the $ Illumina). I'm also considering H&R and possibly BMR

I have had my Eiback Pro-Kit with stock shocks for almost two years now, aka 14K miles. It has worked out great for me. There might be better set-ups, but I've had no issues with this one.
