How to tighten Castle nut that holds spindle onto lower A-Arm? When I try and tighten the castle nut (still needs many more threads to go), the bolt is spinning freely.. What do I do to keep the bolt from moving?

Re: How to tighten Castle nut that holds spindle onto lower A-Arm? The nut is on top of a tapered stud. You need to "set" the stud in the spindle and then tighten it. You can put the nut on top of the threads and GENTLY!!! tap a tie rod seperator in there to pull the stud in snug. (I've seen guys hit the spindle with a hammer and a block of wood, this potentially can damage the ball joint). A spinning stud is a possible sign that the balljoint is worn out and may need replaced. When they are new, they usually won't spin....Good Luck!
