Default Need help with caliper and to anyone who has had their calipers powdercoated.

Im getting ready to drop off my calipers today, but before I do so, I have to disassemble them. Im not sure how far I have to take them apart, but I dont even know where to start. The only thing that I have done is taken them off the car and took out some fitting. Then I took out the rods with the threads and rubber seal that hold the bolt. If I were to guess, I would say that I needed to take out the rubber seal around the pistons and the pistons themselves. But I have no earthly idea how to do so. Can you give me a description or send me to a how to site, thanks.

Default Powdercoating brake calipers and prep questions.

I have to drop off my calipers today before noon and before I do so, I have to disassemble them before they start on them. If I dont do so, they will take care of it, but will charge me extra. I have taken them off the car and remove the fitting with the rubber cap over it and the 2 rods with the threads and rubber seals on the end of them. I dont know what else to take off of them beside the rubber seals around the pistons. I can take them off from the top, but I think the piston itself holds them in. So I take it that I will need to take out the pistons too. Basically I just need to know what needs to be taken off the caliper so that it can start the process and how to do it. Thanks

Brake caliper rebuild instructions

There's a little detail there than you need, unless you've torn one of your dust seals or something, but it clearly shows how those things come apart.

Hey Man save yourself some time and trouble, and probably some money too. Get the Brake Caliper Paint System Set from Eastwood Automotive Tools. It's the heat. You can do them on the car, no sweat. <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" /> Part #10274Z for black. They are a sponser on this site. Good luck
