Im having a problem with my brakes lately..When i brake hard, like after i go through a few gears and get on the brakes, my brake pedal get EXTREMELY hard and i have to let off it and get back on the brakes. I dont know what the hell is going on with it. I just replaced the rotors and pads not too long ago..But im thinking of replacing them again..What does it sound like is going on? Car has 125K miles on it and mods in my sig.
Thanks

ya, with the car off pump the pedle a few times. the pedle should get hard. with your foot on the brake start the car. your brake pedle should go down. But that will only hapen if your booster is compleatly shot, and it doesnt sound like it is. Also listen for a hiss noise when stepping on the brakes. also make sure that the source vacumn hose to the booster is not kinked

anythings possible but probley not. thats not really a symptom of abs false activation. and i doubt that the valves in the hydrolic control unit are stuck cause if they were that would set a code and the abs light would come on. the abs system self test its self every time you start up the car and drive it. but without driving it theres no way to say for certain.

From haynes manual. power brake booster inspection.
Operating check:
Depress the pedal and start the engine if the pedal does down slightly, operation is normal.
Depress the brake pedal several times with the engine running and make sure that there is no change in the pedal reserve distance.
Airtightness check:
Start the engine and turn it off after one or two munutes. Depress the barke pedal esveral time slowly. If the pedal does down farther the first time but gradually rises after the second or third depression, the booster is airtight.
Depress the brake pedal while the engine is running, then stop the engine with the pedal depressed. If there is no change in the preal reserve travel after holding the pedal for 30 seconds, the booster is airtight.
