Abs Inop

Abs Inop I was just wondering if anyone else has experience what I am going threw.
For the last month or so I have noticed my abs inop light coming on. And I notice in order to get it to go away I have to shut the car off and pump the brake pedal untill it is very firm. Then start it up and drive off. I cannot pinpoint what causes it to come on. I want to say when it detects a vibration or a bump it kicks the light on.. Or other times I will apply the break and I can feel the abs kick in yet I am on dry pavement.
Even tho the light is coming on I don't notice a difference in firmness of the pedal or the way the car stops. Anyone have and idea?

that happened to me and it turned out that the ground wire for it was loose and not actually being ground. tighten it up and see if that works
