Default Rear Shocks?

1994 Firebird Formy Original Shocks/Struts/Springs

Well im thinking my rear shocks are shot.. it bangs on everything (the rear) and if I lean on the back of the car well it goes down down down

I was looking KYB got some stock replacements... for cheap I'v taken the rear out of a 1996 v6 firebird I should be able to just bolt these in and out right? what should I do go performance shocks or just stock replacement?? I dont want it to ride any lower in the rear

Shocks don't support the rear of the car. The pressure inside the shock could possibly offer minimal support, but shocks are not springs. When you lean on the car and the rear sinks, that's a spring problem, not shocks. Adding shocks will do virtually nothing to correct that issue. Shocks have low and high speed valving, but you leaning on the car is far less force than even the low speed valving is set to deal with. As for the banging on everything (as you put it), if you're hitting bumps and the current shocks are "dead", the axle may just bounce and be uncontrolled. In that case, new shocks will help, but you're describing two different problems here.

Since it's a 1994 car, I'm going to guess that almost any shock is better than what's left of your stock shocks.....(assuming it doesn't have very, very low mileage on your car).

Yeah I would try to find some stock suspension springs out of an LS1 F-body and replace yours with those. I would also replace the shocks too!

ya they are stock, ya it goes crazy on little bumps the rear hits the ******* ground... arn't 98-02 shocks/struts/springs different then 93-97's they are lower currect well atleast the springs.. I can get a set of KYB's front/back for $95 are they better then decarbon?

I'm sure I can spend alittle more if it will help hookup traction and **** on the street

Shocks/springs from 93-2002 will bolt on any year car. The rates were changed around some years, but they all physically fit each car, so you can mix and match them.

With a stock spring, a Bilstien HD would be a decent choice.
