Default Brake fluid change

brkae fluid in the TA is all but totally black was thinkin of flushing it out and replacing with new fluid, i am also getting ready to take off the calipers for painting so i figured this might be a good time, what would be the easiest was to do this. i figured that you could push the pedal down to push all the fluid out but then you have a hell of a bleeding issue to deal with. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

Get the fluid out of the reservoir as best you can (turkey baster, or some sort of MityVac - I use the latter). Fill the reservoir with fresh fluid, and bleed the brakes as normal. Keep bleeding them until fresh fluid runs out of each corner (it will take quite a few pumps).

To make it even easier, you can use something like Ate Super Blue, and wait until the fluid coming out is completely blue (then you'll know it is fresh).

Whatever you do, don't let the Master go dry. As stated, that would be a "hell of a bleeding issue."

Don't leave the brake lines open...follow this guide here:

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm

I've only been able to buy Ate online...a Google search will come up with some for you. Pretty sure it is a DOT 4 fluid.

Edit - click on that link, go under "Install Documents" on the left hand side of the page, and under Braking, click on "Brake Caliper Rebuild".

yeah it takes some work to get the lines flushed, but worth it knowing that the fluid has no water and no air in it.

I carry ATE, both Super Blue and the Type 200 Amber stuff. Same fluid, just minus the blue dye.

It's actually DOT 4 (which means it surpasses DOT 3 specs by a mile), had a 536 dry boiling point, and a very high 392 wet boiling point.

I installed Earl's solo bleeders all around when I did my flush. It was about $20 for all 4 and it makes flushing and bleeding easy. I think I bought them from Tbyrne.com (sponsor).

Solo-bleeders are nice - I personally prefer a Motive pressure bleeder on mine.
